Michale Salvatori is no longer employed by Bungie, by the looks of it. The legendary composer of Destiny and Halo OST has updated his website, removing the description of his work at Bungie. The website now simply states: "Gone fishin' :)".
Destiny 2 fans are worried that Salvatori was axed by Bungie in the recent wave of layoffs which saw dozens of developers look for a new job on LinkedIn and social media X.
This would certainly be a very bad look for Bungie but Sony too, as Salvatori's is appreciated by many Halo and Destiny fans and in an ideal world, he's someone that every game development studio would love to have.
At the time of writing, we did not have the confirmation from Salvatori on this matter but we have contacted his representatives for a comment and will update this article if we get a response.
Some reliable industry sources seem to suggest that Salvatori left Bungie on his own and could even retire but since that is just a rumour, we suggest you take it with a grain of salt and wait for the official clarification.
In case you're not familiar with Salvatori's work, he composed the soundtrack for the beloved Halo: Combat Evolved along with Marty O'Donnell and later on worked on music for Halo 2 and Halo 3.
He also helped write Destiny and Destiny 2's soundtrack and its expansions like Forsaken, Shadowkeep, Witch Queen and the most recent one - Lightfall.
