Bungie's decision to go under Sony's roof may not have been for the best of the studio after all as they found themselves in a rather unpleasant situation.
Not only are their employees getting axed but their projects are seeing major delays. Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the conclusion of the Light vs Darkness saga has been a hotly anticipated expansion after the lacklustre Lightfall but the fans will now have to wait longer than expected.
It has been pushed back to June 2024 according to Bloomberg, four months after the planned release date of February 27, 2024.
That is not all, however, as Marathon was also planned for release in 2024 but that one will see an even longer delay as it is now planned for 2025.
All of these woes didn't just pop up out of the blue but it does appear to have caught some employees off-guard, although some already feared such a meeting due to the overall unpredictability of the games industry.
So far, there is word of communication, social and publishing departments getting the axe but it is currently unclear just how many people were let go.
In any case, it appears that the scope of the layoffs was pretty big this time around. If you are looking for people with experience in the aforementioned areas, you may want to check some of Bungie's former employees.
