007 First Light introduces gameplay challenges, gadget upgrades, new weapons, and confirms more missions arriving after launch.

007 First Light has been showing off more gameplay details in the lead up to launch and the latest preview offers an overview of how players will progress, unlock upgrades and approach missions.

The latest preview heavily focuses on how players will be given choices on how they complete each mission. From collecting information by talking to NPCs to sneaking around back door entrances, players have options when approaching stealth, using gadgets and engaging in combat.

Offering more outside of its standard progression system, 007 First Light also introduces Challenges which further encourages players to complete missions in unique ways.

Challenges, upgrades, and replayability

Each Challenge in 007 First Light comes with its own specific goals. Some ask players to take down enemies in certain ways while others have players avoid gunfire altogether.

Upon completion these Challenges will reward players with Intel which can then be used to unlock upgrades. Players can then spend their Intel on upgrades such as weapons, gadgets, or additional wardrobe options.

Some of these upgrades even offer new abilities such as enhancing Bond’s watch laser so he can strip enemy armour or take down security panels quicker.

Gadgets will play a heavy role in 007 First Light as well. Players can fire tranquiliser darts from Bond’s smartphone to silently take down enemies and his watch serves a dual purpose of both a laser tool and something he can use to hack his way through doors or take out cameras.

Players can approach each mission how they want, staying stealthy or all guns-blazing if need be. Challenge also introduce leaderboards where players can optimise how they approach each level to get the best possible score.

Each mission will offer plenty of replayability for those who wish to get the best Challenge scores. IO Interactive also notes that there will be additional Challenges and missions available for players after launch. The game launches on May 27.
