One of the references to FromSoftware games in Where Winds Meet, apart from the very similar combat system, is signposts, small signs players leave all over the game's world to either warn other players about something, leave some hints, or simply write something down to mark their territory.
Almost all FromSoftware games, from Souls games, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, and even Sekiro, use this mechanic, but while their messaging is a bit limited to usage of only dedicated words, in Where Winds Meet, you'll have full freedom to write down anything you want for the other players to read.
However, writing those messages or leaving those signposts can be a bit mysterious, especially if you don't know what to do to leave them and which item to use to make it happen. If those questions bother you, we have the answers in this guide.
How to leave the signpost in Where Winds Meet
Writing down the messages and posting them as signposts requires special items, and those items are, believe it or not, probably already in your bag, provided you finished the tutorial area called General's Shrine.
Once you beat the opponent in the fight set out by Ruby in this area, the hero will, as a part of the main quest, talk to the merchant there and get the rewards for his heroic deed. One of the rewards will be ten signposts which will automatically be added to your inventory.
To leave the signpost, open your bag and search for the signpost item. Once you find it, highlight it and press the X button (PlayStation controller) to place the signpost. Now, you'll be able to write down your own message, attach an image, and even set your own appearance, which will be shown in a ghostly form to the other players.
If you want, you can set the assist signpost as well, provided you're inside the area where the assistance is allowed, like inside some dungeons or in front of boss arenas.
Are the signposts unlimited?
Every time you set the signpost, one of them will be spent from your bag, but do not worry; you can get new ones very easily. You can either buy new signposts from dedicated merchants, which will be listed once you click 'more' under the signpost item inside the bag, or you can make the new signposts using the crafting mechanic.
To craft new signposts, simply press 'more' by pressing the square button once inside the signpost options in the bag and choose the crafting option. For crafting the set of ten signposts, you'll need two pieces of timber and one raw ore. Press craft, once in possession of those materials, and you'll get ten new signposts ready to be deployed.
