There are two types of bosses in Where Winds Meet: regular, story bosses you'll encounter as you progress through the campaign, and the world bosses, which you'll be able to encounter randomly once you reach their respective locations.
There are six world bosses in total in the Qinghe area and three in Kaifeng, and while all of them can be easily located, the third boss, Snake Doctor, can be tracked down, but once you reach his location, he will be underground somewhere, and the game won't tell you a single hint about how to reach him.
If this world boss is a mystery to you as well, here is a guide that will explain everything regarding reaching him.
How to track down the world bosses
If you feel like you're up for a challenge to track down and fight the hardest enemies of this NetEase MMO action RPG, all you need to do is open the Journal menu, either through the Function Wheel or the side panel, and navigate to the last tab called 'World Bosses'.
Here, you'll find all the world bosses, and if you want to fight any of them, simply click on them and press the track command (the triangle button on the PS5 controller). Doing this will show the boss's location on the map, and all you have to do next is go to that location and engage in a fight with a boss.
How to locate Snake Doctor
Snake Doctor is the third boss in the Qinghe area, and if you use this locating strategy, the map will point to Encircling Lake, the most southern area of Qinghe; however, if you go down to that location, the boss will be nowhere to be found; all you'll encounter is an area full of soldiers and some groups of very vicious snakes.
Since the boss isn't there and his icon is, it is only logical that the boss is located somewhere underground, and that would be a correct assumption. So to locate Snake Doctor, you'll need to look for a cave located around this area. This cave is located a bit to the west of the lake itself, so if you cannot find it on your own, look at our map below.
Entering the cave and solving the Wandering Tales quest
Locating Snake Doctor is directly connected to a Wandering Tales quest called 'Dead Man's Secret'; however, to enter the cave, you won't need to finish this quest, but it will be a hell of a lot easier if you do.
Just before entering the cave, you'll encounter a guy with a tamed snake, and while here, you should talk to him. Once you do, the quest in question will commence, and you'll be able to track it on your screen. This quest will require you to find three pieces of the Snake King skeleton.
Once you speak to the NPC, he will give you the item called Damaged Manuscript, on which a handwritten map will be located, pointing to three locations where those three bone pieces are located.
You can open this map by entering the bag and navigating to the quest items. Once you're there, find Damaged Manuscript and open it; this will show you where the bones are located, and those locations will correspond to the locations on your in-game map. We've prepared a video to show you a full walkthrough of this quest at the beginning of this guide, so make sure to check it out for more detailed descriptions.
Mission prerequisites
To be able to tackle this quest and do it properly, you'll need to meet some requirements first. Taking those three quest items will be impossible without the Celestial Seize mystic skill. Luckily, it can be easily obtained by doing an exploration quest with the same name. Just open the quest menu and navigate to the 'Exploration' tab. Here, find this quest, finish it, and you'll obtain this skill.
Celestial Seize will be required to snatch those bones from the groups of snakes in those three locations, so if you're having trouble locating those three places from the map, just follow the groups of snakes (a massive number of red dots on the minimap).
Mission rewards
Once you collect all three bone pieces, bring them back to the NPC at the cave entrance, and he will give you the assembled item called Snake King Bone. Having this item in your inventory will be utterly useful because it will allow you to be snake-friendly, meaning all snakes in the game will ignore you from now on, and as a result, you'll be able to enter the cave and fight Snake Doctor.
The other rewards are the usual mission rewards in the form of some crafting items and in-game currencies.
