Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated Sony exclusives of 2023, and fans got a glimpse of its gameplay in a new demo that was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase. The trailer showed Spider-Men Peter Parker and Miles Morales teaming up to fight against Kraven the Hunter and his minions, as well as a mysterious voice that hinted at the presence of Venom.
And while the trailer was quite good if you ask us, some PlayStation fans pointed out that the game doesn't look like the generational leap that was promised when Sony announced Marvel's Spider-Man 2 exclusively for PlayStation 5.
Some argued that the water effects didn't look up to Insomniac Games' standard and that the overall level of detail in the open world didn't impress. However, there does not seem to be any reason for concern just yet as Insomniac Games have confirmed that the gameplay is not from the final build of the game.
This pretty much suggests that the game will see some graphical improvements on release but don't get overly excited until we see those. Some games do indeed look better on launch when compared to their pre-release footage but a bunch of them usually end up looking worse due to all sorts of optimisation process that occurs at the final stages of development.
But we don't have any doubts that Insomniac Games will deliver a mindblowing action adventure that looks and plays great given that they have a really solid portfolio of gorgeous titles.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 still does not have a release date but it's expected to launch sometime in Autumn 2023. It's exclusive to PlayStation 5.
