Spider-Man 2, the highly anticipated follow-up by Insomniac Games and a direct continuation of the preceding franchise titles, Spider-Man and Spider-Man Miles Morales, has been met with nothing but acclaim since its launch on October 20.
In an interview featured on Gizmodo, Insomniac's Ben Arfmann, the narrative director, and Brittney Morris, an advanced writer, delved into various aspects of this beloved superhero journey. The question that intrigued the journalist who interviewed them the most was regarding the primary Spider-Man in light of the existence of two, and the response provided quite an unexpected twist.
Brittney Morris said:
"It always felt very natural, and I think we all collectively thought it would happen .To me, it shows a great deal of evolution from Miles; at the beginning of the game, we see him struggling to figure out what he wants to do with his life. By the end, we had Miles carrying the burden of saving the city and also carrying Pete when Pete wasn’t strong enough to carry himself at various points."
Given the immense popularity of this superhero saga among gamers, it's anticipated that Sony will seize every opportunity to maximise its value. Consequently, the prospect of future Spider-Man titles is a logical one. This decision is bolstered by the fact that young Miles Morales undeniably holds more untapped potential than Peter Parker, who is gradually becoming older and obviously interested in some other things.
Since the release of Spider-Man 2, the game has cemented its position as the leading title among superhero games. It's worth noting that there isn't much competition in this regard. Games centred on the DC Comics universe appear to be on a declining trend, and following the success of the Arkham series, subsequent releases struggle to measure up to the immensely popular Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 has been exclusively available on the PlayStation 5 since October 20, 2023.
