After a tumultuous beginning on PC, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 saw its first hotfix to address one of its most significant concerns - ray tracing-related crashes.
According to Insomniac Games, its update deals with crashes experienced when having ray tracing enabled, but not all of them have been resolved yet. Players have been assured that its development team will have follow-up fixes soon.
In an official statement, the group confirmed that they actively monitor player feedback and work on future releases for additional stability concerns. They said: "Our testing and development groups work actively towards future releases in an attempt to make additional improvements in terms of bug fixing and stability."
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hit its PC launch date of January 30th, but its launch received a lot of criticism regarding a variety of technical failures.
Cutscene glitches, freezings, graphical glitches, and performance loss, specifically when using AMD FSR Frame Generation, have been seen, with it seeming to cause stutter and unprovoked crashes.
Despite these failures, the title peaked at 27,775 concurrent Steam players at launch.
While the PS5 version of the title runs flawlessly, its PC equivalent fared poorly, and its "Mixed" rating on Steam attests to that. Fans hope future updates will iron out kinks and make it closer to console performance level.
Looking ahead, Marvel’s Wolverine is in development at Insomniac, and rumor and leak have titles including Marvel’s Venom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and Marvel’s X-Men in its future pipeline.
