During tonight's PlayStation Showcase, Sony showed us a brand-new gameplay trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, one of their most anticipated games, in 2023, with release date showing only fall 2023.
As was expected and much to the delight of fans, at tonight's PlayStation Showcase, Sony officially unveiled the release date as well as the first gameplay trailer of Spider-Man 2 , one of the most eagerly awaited games of 2023. According to the official gameplay trailer, the game will be released sometime during the fall of 2023, exclusively for PlayStation 5 .
From a visual point of view, the gameplay shows us that Spider-Man 2 will be a real visual treat, which is not surprising at all given the quality of the previous two Spider-Man games' visual presentation, even though they were made for the much weaker PlayStation 4 hardware.
The trailer also confirmed that Peter and Miles will fight a brand-new faction of almost tribal-looking people seeking, as they say, a real hunting challenge, which they will obviously find in New York. Apart from the new faction, it seems that Venom will not be the enemy of Spider-Man but Spider-Man himself; how it came to that, we will have to wait until the fall of this year to find out.
In the 12-minute-long trailer, we can also see that the gameplay itself didn't change much. It is still fast-paced action with a lot of explosions and many cinematic sequences, as we used to see in the two previous Spider-Man games. There is, however, one little detail from the beginning of the trailer. It seems the game will take place in Queens this time, or maybe even over the entirety of New York. In any case, we expect a much bigger game with a much bigger map, and since the gameplay was already almost perfect, every upgrade will make it even better.
Since all previous PlayStation 5 titles, including God of War: Ragnarök and Horizon: Forbidden West, also had PlayStation 4 versions available, Spider-Man 2 will be the first fully exclusive PlayStation 5 title. As a result, it will probably be both technically and visually superior to its predecessors.
