Jhin, a popular ADC champion in League of Legends, is receiving significant nerfs in Patch 14.20, set to launch on October 9, 2024. Despite his nerfs, Jhin remains a likable pick during patches where ADCs struggle.

Jhin has long been considered one of League of Legends' most iconic ADC champions since his release in 2016, but some major nerfs are on the way in Patch 14.20, set to launch on October 9, 2024.

He has a very different style of gameplay compared with other marksmen, an almost hypnotic champion design, and intriguing lore, making him at worst a very likable pick during patches where ADCs suffered. On the flip side, even when he was at his weakest, he was a strong and popular pick in the game.

Until the beginning of the season, ADC champions were not that well-performing, then item buffs and Riot's mid-season updates came in-major buffs that cranked up their power. Some ADC champions, like Jhin, even started featuring in off-meta roles such as jungle and mid lane.

Of course, balance did eventually normalize after some time for marksmen characters, but a few ADCs like Jhin have just stayed incredibly strong and very frequently picked in ranked matches.

Currently, Jhin enjoys a staggering 29.4% pick rate paired with a pretty decent 51.28% win rate. When played right, he can be a dominating force during the early periods of the game and snowball into the late game.

Still, his power was dialed back, thanks to Riot Games, and here's a look at the Patch 14.20 notes courtesy of Riot Phroxzon:.

Jhin's Nerfs in Patch 14.20

  • Base Stats: AD growth per level reduced from 4.7 to 4.4.
  • R - Curtain Call: Base damage decreased from 64/154/244 to 64/128/192.

The nerfs mostly hit his late-game effectiveness, while the reduction to his AD growth per level will be felt throughout the game, though the severity of this change may depend on the items he chooses to build.

By and large, however, the most substantial adjustment is that given to his ultimate, Curtain Call-which now deals substantially less damage in the later stages of the game.

These changes might make life hard for Jhin, so that only truly skilled players can use him effectively, and he would no longer be on the top-tier ADC pool.
