LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has officially gone gold. With gold status confirmed, development on the game is complete on time for its release on May 22. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait longer for a version. Games going gold means they’re ready for mass production and distribution. Players should still anticipate a day-one patch, however.
Gold typically means the studio wasn’t hit with delays and will release during their window. LEGO Batman will attempt to combine various versions of Batman from comics, movies, and TV shows into one open-world adventure.
A New Take on Batman’s Origin
The story follows Bruce Wayne as he trains with the League of Assassins before taking on the mantle of Batman to protect Gotham City. Along the way, familiar faces like Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, and Commissioner Gordon help shape Bruce into who he will become.
Antagonists like Bane and The Joker also make an appearance in LEGO Batman. This backs up claims that the game will feature various iterations of Batman throughout its campaign.
Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will receive one post-launch story mission. This mission sees Harley Quinn and The Joker trying to escape Arkham Asylum.
The mission, along with a separate Harley and Joker playable Mayhem Mode, launches in September 2026. Players will be able to unlock several item packs at launch. These include the Arkham Trilogy Pack, Batman Beyond Pack, Party Music Pack, and the Sinister Pack which grants players a new suit.
