After remaking Silent Hill 2 first, Konami and Bloober Team have officially announced a full remake of the original Silent Hill (1999). The reveal was part of Konami’s latest “Press Start” showcase and marks the second remake in their revival of the iconic horror franchise.
Yes, they’re doing it backwards—because why not start with Silent Hill 2 and then circle back to Silent Hill 1? It’s survival horror, not math.
The details about the remake are pretty scarce but I think Silent Hill 2 gives us a general idean on what to expect from this one.
Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 was generally well-received, bringing updated visuals, reworked combat, and a faithful reimagining of the original story. It sold over a million copies in its first week and proved there’s a modern appetite for revisiting Silent Hill’s nightmares.

Now, fans will finally see the series' first chapter brought to life with current-gen technology. While specific gameplay footage and a release window haven't been shared yet, the remake is expected to offer similar enhancements, including modern controls, updated graphics, and possibly a few new narrative twists.
Returning to Where It All Began
Originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation, Silent Hill introduced players to Harry Mason, a father searching for his missing daughter in the fog-drenched, monster-infested town of Silent Hill. Praised for its psychological tension and eerie atmosphere, the game helped define the survival horror genre and laid the foundation for the series' twisted lore.
It's safe to say that a remake will do wonders for this classic, especially after seeing Bloober's magic with the second game in the series.
