Accompanying the highly awaited Silent Hill 2 Remake is a very sleek brand-new story trailer and extended gameplay footage, really showing off the chilling atmosphere and mechanics of the title.
While this remake does maintain a creepy vibe to the original, it comes with major refits in its exploration and gameplay elements, which make for an entirely different experience compared to newcomers and long-time fans.
The Bloober Team and Konami remake of Silent Hill 2 arrives on October 8th for PS5 and PC, but with these enhancements, it's shaping up to be a must-play for horror fans.
It's perhaps the most striking of a host of new features in this remake that players are able to enter and look around more buildings. According to the PlayStation Blog, these new locations are also full of useful resources such as ammunition and healing items.
Access to some buildings is not given up readily; players have to break windows to enter, which carries the risk of attracting unwanted attention from monsters.
Puzzle fans, however, have warmed to the remake in their numbers. New puzzles have been introduced by Bloober Team for this version, to be sure, but there's been some really cool concessions to the original game in there too.
One of the more interesting inclusions is the ability to alter the difficulty level of the puzzles separately from the general difficulty of the game. This way, even those who are very interested in the story or their characters are able to escape through too hard puzzles.
Also coming with the remake are significant alterations for familiar locations inaccessible to Wood Side and Blue Creek Apartments. All these areas are refurbished with new enemy placements, items, and puzzles.
This ensures that veteran players are going to have a hell of a time, with everything not feeling too familiar while traveling the streets of Silent Hill.
