Like every other GTA title, Grand Theft Auto VI also features a full-fledged wanted system. However, this time Rockstar has managed to shake up the whole system by introducing new dimensions. Here's an in-depth look at the new wanted system in Grand Theft Auto VI.
How the Wanted System Works in Grand Theft Auto VI
The wanted system in every GTA title is activated when the player commits a crime, like stealing a vehicle or just straight up blowing up stuff in public places. Previously in GTA V, the wanted system was mostly like every other GTA title before it, where you commit a crime and the police chase you until you manage to escape or they end up killing you.
This time around, Rockstar has fully revamped the wanted system with new game mechanics. As seen in the gameplay showcase, GTA VI returns to the six-star wanted status, which was last seen in GTA IV.
While the star system is the base to the wanted system, Rockstar adds a new dimension to it with a criminal profile system. For the first time in the series' history, the police will mark what you are wearing and driving. This new system signals that you have to change your clothes and get your hands on a new car to escape the wanted stars.
GTA VI features a mask system like Red Dead Redemption 2. You will have to rely on using masks while committing crimes to avoid the chances of the police recognizing your face. Masks will be a vital part of robberies and almost any crime you commit during your free roam sessions.
The new wanted system will also feature recognition when Jason and Lucia commit a crime together, showing a dual person status below the wanted level. Alongside this, the game also features a comprehensive CCTV mechanic, which shows that the police will know if you are spotted on a CCTV camera.
From the looks of it, escaping the law and committing crimes this time around will be a lot harder, forcing players to strategize their escape routes and tactics dynamically.
