Cronos: Lazarus expansion features more action-oriented gameplay with aggressive combat, contrasting with the base game's stealth-focused approach

New Cronos: Lazarus gameplay details from Bloober Team reveal an action-heavy shift, new abilities like Teleportation and Decoy, and a deadly new weapon.

Bloober Team has released another developer diary on Cronos: Lazarus, revealing more about the expansion’s gameplay and story. Bloober Team went into detail about how Lazarus will feel compared to Cronos: The New Dawn, explaining that while it continues the story from the previous game, the studio wants to give players a different experience.

This time around, players can expect Cronos: Lazarus to focus more on action-oriented gameplay and follow a more personal story surrounding a more powerful protagonist known as the Pathfinder.

Bloober Team went into detail about how Cronos: Lazarus will play differently from its predecessor. The developers say that Lazarus will encourage players to be more aggressive compared to the stealthier, slower gameplay of the base game. Players will be able to engage with enemies more directly thanks to the Pathfinder’ combat capabilities.

The story also dives into more personal themes as the Pathfinder takes on The Collective and their new enemy alone.Players will receive several new gameplay abilities in Lazarus. The first ability is Teleportation, which players can use to travel around the environment quickly, reach new areas, and flank enemies during combat.

Next is Decoy, an ability that allows players to spawn a hologram of themselves to distract enemies. When used with mobility abilities, players can take out enemies stealthily or control crowds.A new weapon was also announced for Lazarus called the Gladius. Described as a deadly version of the dagger players receive at the start of Cronos: The New Dawn, the Gladius is a new weapon suited for close-quarters combat.

All these new gameplay abilities and story elements come together to show off a larger cast of enemies that are after the Pathfinder as players rush towards what looks to be a big showdown. Cronos: Lazarus will release Fall of 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
