GTA 6 is bringing back several familiar open-world activities while adding new ways to interact with animals and NPCs across Leonida.

GTA 6 is going to be about much more than missions and wreaking havoc on pedestrians. As per usual, Rockstar is stuffing its open world to the brim with smaller tasks and interactions that players will no doubt lose hours in.

The latest deep dive into GTA 6 details some of the smaller activities players can expect while traversing Leonida. Outside of Jason and Lucia’s journeys, players will have ample opportunity to mess around and do things unrelated to story missions.

Many of these activities will feel familiar to players who’ve touched a Rockstar title before, but GTA 6 is expanding upon them in a number of ways.

Some of the activities players will be able to get up to outside of missions:

  • Playing pool and golf
  • Scuba diving and kayaking
  • Visiting the gym to work out
  • Parachuting
  • Going to the zoo
  • Petting animals

Speaking of animals, Red Dead Redemption 2 players will feel right at home exploring the zoo. Players can observe animals they come across and fill out an in-game list as they discover new species.

Dogs will also be interactive. If you spot a pupper on the street, you’ll be given the option to either pet it or yell at it.

Characters React Differently

Rockstar is adding more depth to NPC interactions as well. Characters can react differently based on player behavior, and some encounters can carry over to alter events later that night.

We’ll also be given a dialogue wheel to pick our responses from. NPCs will also display unique reactions and animations that take their body type into consideration.

Players will also be able to comment on the environment as they roam around Leonida with Jason and Lucia.

Between all these activities and intricate interactions, expect Vice City and Leonida at large to be worth exploring outside of story missions when GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026.
