Twitter user Timur222 has discovered a new trademark registered by Bethesda's parent company Zenimax. The trademark name is "Starborn" and it could be connected to the sci-fi RPG Starfield, which features mysterious beings in the story called Starborn.
The trademark was registered on July 12, 2024, and the official description mentions "Recorded computer game software; downloadable computer game software" which pretty much confirms this is a trademark for a video game.
So, what this trademark means? Well, it's highly likely that this is another expansion for Starfield that could be coming after Shattered Space, which is currently on track to launch in Autumn later this year.
As the name suggests, the expansion could potentially explore the Starborn and their creators, going back to the origin of artefacts and the temples that players discover on their playthrough.
To me, Starborn felt like one of those parts in Starfield's story that didn't get enough attention. Perhaps this was intentional as Bethesda had the expansion in mind, which could give us a lot more lore and answers on Starborn and artefacts.
This proof of Starfield's potential second expansion certainly won't come as a surprise to anyone who followed the game since its launch.
Bethesda recently stated that they have no plans to abandon the game and will keep adding more content as well as full-fledged expansions in year two. This is great news for all Starfield fans but also for those who didn't quite like the game on launch. It means an improved product overall and we can't wait to see what Bethesda have in store.
