The Xbox Game Pass subscription service has four tiers since last year: Xbox Game Pass Core, Xbox Game Pass (Standard), PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Another rank may join that streak in the future. If rumors from various sources are to be believed, Microsoft is considering introducing a Game Pass tier that would be reserved only for streaming games via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Currently, the streaming option is reserved for Ultimate subscribers only. Likewise, Xbox game streaming is currently tied exclusively to Game Pass catalog games, but that won't always be the case.
This year, Microsoft plans to offer the possibility of streaming games that players have purchased, regardless of whether they are part of the Game Pass catalog.
The fifth tier of Game Pass could technically be used for that purpose, as a cheaper option for those who don't need access to the Game Pass collection of games, just streaming capabilities.
The new subscription tier that Microsoft plans to release will be based around the players that don't want to buy a Xbox console and have any unnecessary costs. However, this new tier would give them the opportunity to own games withing the Xbox Game Pass service, so they will be able to play the games through cloud.
Let's remember, at one time there was an additional tariff called Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family in testing for sharing the subscription among several users, but for now it is not known if it is still in the plan.
