Battlefield 6 introduces Operation Augur, a new limited-time mode featuring sector-based battles, vehicles, and close-quarters combat starting April 14.

A new limited-time mode for Battlefield 6’s multiplayer will launch on April 14. Dubbed Operation Augur, the mode features a NATO assault team attacking through five objectives while the defenders from Pax Armata try to hold them off.

Split into two stages with five sectors each, Operation Augur encourages players to capture and hold sectors of the map by possessing at least one of the attack objectives at a time.

This mode mixes big Battlefield fights with classic capture the flag style gameplay. Round starts with Contaminated, a sector comprised of five objectives. Combat initially takes place in Hamlet, a narrow objective with trenches and houses littered around a single house.

Maintenance Hangar also plays fairly linear, giving players obvious attacker and defender positions around the objectives. Ramp/Apron has two guard towers which enable attacking teams to split up and take objective from multiple angles.

Hagental Base Entrance is another multi-level fight that should keep players near the stairs controlling the higher ground.Stage two moves players into Hagental Base with more claustrophobic environments. Emergency Generators features two objectives at the start but disallows vehicles, so you’re better off relying on SMGs or shotguns.

Central Tunnel gives attackers two flanking routes through tight hallways while Depot keeps the action close-quarters with just one objective placed on raised catwalks.

Server splits into Attack and Capture, placing players in two tight objectives. Both feature narrow rooms that should encourage breachers and other close-range weapons.

Operation Augur’s map design should provide a healthy mix of large-scale battles Battlefield is known for, and corridor skirmishes we’ve seen from previous modes. Players will want to use more vehicles during the earlier sectors, but should probably save their best infantry loadouts for Stage two.
