Battlefield 6 brings back the iconic Grand Bazaar map as Cairo Bazaar, featuring enhanced destruction, new routes, and a fresh setting within the War of 2027.

Fans of some of Battlefield’s earliest multiplayer locales will be pleased to hear that Battlefield 6 is rebooting one of the franchise’s most popular close quarters maps with a brand-new take on Grand Bazaar.

Grand Bazaar returns in Battlefield 6 as Cairo Bazaar, receiving graphical enhancements, larger destruction sandbox, and new gameplay mechanics using Battlefield’s latest advancements in technology.

Introduced as part of Battlefield 3, Grand Bazaar was an instant classic that resonated with fans thanks to its frantic infantry combat, map symmetry, and narrow choke points. Fast forward over a decade and Battlefield Studios is dusting off the map and scaling it appropriately for the war and narrative established by Battlefield 6.

Players will fight between NATO troops and Pax Armata, an international military coalition taking hold of Egypt during the War of 2027 in Cairo Bazaar. As Battlefield players know too well, the Grand Bazaar area will now become a literal battlefield that looks nothing like its former glory due to player destruction.

Patrick Murphy, Senior Level Designer for Battlefield 6, explained to SI that the largest difference in Cairo Bazaar from its predecessor, Grand Bazaar, was the scale of destruction available.“You can punch holes through walls that you can actually create new paths through the map that you can take shortcuts that weren’t really available to you in Battlefield 3,” Murphy explained.

As players destroy parts of the map you’ll start to notice fewer choke points and less coverage. Early game tends to play close quarters with more build around Cairo Bazaar, but as things start to break down you’ll be able to flank your opponents from anywhere.

Battlefield Studios calls this theory of map design internally “breaking the stronghold.” Maps are not meant to stay static, players can change the map as the round progresses. By round’s end, a path that was once covered may be a common flank route and defensive positions can be turned to dust.

Players can expect the same tight-quarters combat that made Grand Bazaar such a fan favorite, only this time no two rounds will play the same thanks to the destruction available in Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 3 veterans will appreciate the nostalgic battle torn map with new twists and beginner’s will get to experience one of Battlefield’s most famous maps like never before.
