Battlefield 6’s third season starts strong with one of the largest updates yet. High-Value Target brings new game modes to both core multiplayer and REDSEC, a timed event, new gear, and a free trial for players who want to get into the game without paying.
Players can expect high-risk objective-focused gameplay with this update, but Battlefield is also pulling out all the stops to welcome new players to the franchise.
Fans of competitive squad-based shooters and newcomers alike can pick their poison in Season 3, whether that means Battlefield staples or dipping your toes into Battle Royale for the first time. Access to the free trial is available now through July 6.
Tactical Obliteration Mode
Leading the charge is Tactical Obliteration, a new multiplayer mode that focuses more on squads and close-quarters combat. Battlefield‘s take on this mode of play pits smaller teams against one another with the objective of planting the bomb, defending the carrier, and making it to the objective site before your enemy does.
With fewer players on each team, every death will mean more and your squad’s strategy will be essential.
REDSEC Gets a Casual Battle Royale Mode
This smaller player count means there’s also space for some AI teammates. REDSEC will have its own entry into the battle royale genre with a Casual mode. Casual mode in Battlefield‘s battle royale will ease players into the formula with bots to act as additional opponents.
They’re there to help new players adjust to battle royale style matches without the pressure of jumping in with highly experienced players.
Wet Work Event and New Hardware
The other new feature players can look forward to in Season 3 is the Wet Work event. The objective of this event is simple: kill everyone. Available in both Multiplayer and REDSEC, Wet Work objectives and challenges will reward players who go looking for trouble.
Alongside this event, a new melee weapon will be available to unlock. The EOD Bot Arm is a melee weapon based on none other than D-Bot itself.
