Battlefield 6 Season 2 launches February 17 with new Contaminated map featuring psychochemical gas that causes hallucinations and requires gas masks for protection

Battlefield 6 Season 2 launches on 17 February, introducing the Contaminated map, hallucination gas mechanics, new weapons, vehicles, and limited-time events.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 is almost upon us and now Battlefield Studios have released the first proper gameplay trailer after originally showing off some cinematic sneak peeks. The new trailer dives deeper into what players can expect when Season 2 launches on February 17.

Contaminated is the centrepiece of this latest update; a brand-new map full of environmental hazards and frantic close-range combat. Expect chaos, destruction and volatile conditions.

Players can also look forward to new weapons, vehicles, gadgets and more content being added throughout Season 2 so it looks like this will expand Battlefield 6 rather than just rotating the map pool.

Contaminated Map and Hallucination Mechanics

Psychochemical smoke flows from Fort Lyndon into the new Contaminated map. When active the gas hallucinates soldiers leaving you in brief periods of vulnerability that can become fatal very quickly.

Gas Masks offer soldiers protection at the price of:

  • No longer hallucinating
  • Narrowed Field of view
  • Fire fights become more intense with this trade off.

Players will find themselves scrambling for cover when gas surges unexpectedly in high traffic areas.
