Baldur's Gate 3 developers are relieved to give Starfield all the attention of petty console warriors.

Larian Studios probably didn't think their critically acclaimed RPG Baldur's Gate 3 would become one of the major talking points in console wars on social media and various gaming forums.

Since the game was announced for PlayStation 5 only, Larian had to explain why the Xbox Series X/S version was lagging behind, naming the split screen implementation on Series S as one of the issues they're having, which is preventing them from launching the game simultaneously on all consoles.

Obviously, many console warriors started with the narrative that Baldur's Gate 3 is a PlayStation 5 exclusive, using the game in console wars against the Xbox exclusive Starfield, which also has been used as fuel in toxic discussions online for a very long time.

As the launch of Starfield is approaching, the fanboys are nitpicking certain features of the game, claiming that Bethesda's RPG is not that deep after all and has severe limitations. Larian developers probably wouldn't agree with these statements but they are happy to give all the attention of console warriors to Starfield and stop seeing their game in toxic gaming threads on X.

Larian's Director of Publishing was very specific on X regarding this subject, commenting how he "Can’t wait to pass the flame [to Starfield]". He added that seeing their game used in the console wars "sucked".

Starfield is set to be the centre of attention for console warriors for the foreseeable future

The toxicity that the console warriors created for Baldur's Gate 3 was through the roof so it's not surprising that the development team are sick of it and would rather see toxic X users talk about something else entirely.

Sadly, we doubt that will happen as the avalanche of toxic threads is arriving with the launch of Starfield, so expect plenty of comparisons with Baldur's Gate 3 and other games on the market.

Console wars are indeed one of the worst things in the video game industry but you better get used to it as we're only seeing more of that with each new release.
