Does Marathon Server Slam have preload?
Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon opens its doors for the Server Slam on 26 February
Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon opens its doors for the Server Slam on 26 February

Bungie's Marathon Server Slam kicks off on 26 February at 10 AM PT, but don't expect to preload it ahead of time as the the client goes live exactly at start time across PS5, Steam, and Xbox.

If you were planning to preload Marathon's Server Slam ahead of tomorrow's test, you're out of luck. Bungie hasn't announced any preload option, and a look through their official Server Slam article confirms there's no mention of one either. The client simply becomes available to download the moment the event goes live on 26 February at 10 AM PT across PlayStation Store, Steam, and Xbox simultaneously.

The silver lining? It probably won't take long. The build is reportedly a slim one - somewhere in the region of 12 to 16 GB - which means even on a modest connection, you should be in and playing without too much of a wait. It's a sensible approach for a limited test build, and frankly, a 15 GB download is hardly the ordeal it once was.

How to download Marathon Server Slam

When the clock hits 10 AM PT on 26 February, simply search for "Marathon Server Slam" on your platform of choice, be it PlayStation Store, Steam, or Xbox, and download it from there. No pre-order required, no early access hoops to jump through. Just search, download, and get in.

Marathon is certainly one of the most anticiapted shooters of the year, and perhaps even this generation of consoles - It's Bungie's next big thing after all - so no wonder why the interesting is high.

Marathon won't have pre-load by the looks of it but the client is not that big so players shouldn't have problems downloading it

In case you're unfamiliar with the game, it's an extraction shooter, where you go in, complete missions, scavenge for loot, battle against AI enemies and real players (you can also team up with people) and then extract back to your base.

It's a concept we've seen so many times over the last couple of years in games like Gray Zone Warfare, Arc Raiders, Hunt: Showdown, and many others but obviously, it will be all about the execution. If Bungie nail the gameplay, the shooting and progression, we could be getting another major extraction shooter hit.
