Stalker 2 is taking a while but the developer GSC Game World are making sure that every extra month of development is being used to further optimise the game in order to have a smooth launch once the game is finally ready to release.
Today, the team confirmed some good news for the owners of the Xbox Series X. Thanks to optimisation, Stalker 2 will launch with Quality and Performance mode on the Series X console. The Performance Mode will be 60 FPS and GSC Game World say that this mode is their focus for the console.
"The XSX console version of the game has two graphics modes for players to choose from: Performance and Quality, and we aim to achieve a frame rate of 60 fps in Performance mode," the devs said in an interview with Gamersky (machine translation).
Unfortunately, GSC Game World did not reveal the target resolution for these modes as they are still optimising the game. Such details, along with the full PC specs will be shared closer to launch.
The team did say that for the PC version, they are aiming for GTX 1060 as the minimum spec, although the game may not look that good on this particular card due to lower graphics settings and resolution.
As for the release date, well, GSC Game World still don't have anything specific to share. The work on Stalker 2 is continuing as the team is currently polishing the game, which is taking a lot of time, due to the sheer scale and complexity of the open world.
"It's hard to say how far we are from actually finishing the game," they said.
