Subnautica 2 continues hitting major wishlist milestones ahead of its upcoming early access release. Today developer Unknown Worlds announced that Subnautica 2 now has over 5 million wishlist across all platforms.
To mark the occasion, every player will unlock the Reaper Leviathan Statue decorative blueprint for free in-game. Previously, the studio said this reward was only for those who bought the game within the first week of launch.
This latest milestone comes just days before Subnautica 2 launches into early access on May 14 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, also available on Xbox Game Pass.
Early Access Launch Brings Multiplayer and New Biomes
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Subnautica 2’s development. The sequel leaked prematurely way back in February 2024 and has experienced delays, legal battles with publisher Krafton, and persistent rumors about the game’s development ever since.
However, anticipation is building extremely quickly for the game as we continue to learn more about it. We know that Subnautica 2’s early access release will include multiplayer, new biomes, focus on exploring with aliens, and include more critters and Leviathans than any prior Subnautica early access launches.
Many people are wondering what the giant tree featured in cinematic reveals is. As always, Unknown Worlds is dropping hints about mysteries players will discover on this new alien planet but are remaining tight-lipped about story specifics leading up to release.
Subnautica 2 will emphasize cooperative play through exploration more than its predecessor. For the first time in the series, players will be able to band together to survive mysteries of the depths.
The game may stay in early access for at least two years, but Unknown Worlds has stated that timeline is subject to change based on how they prioritize updates based on player interest.
