Roguelike third-person shooter series Remnant has just appeared on Xbox Game Pass for Series X|S consoles and PC, without any prior announcement. In a surprise shadow drop, developer Gunfire Games and Xbox added Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2, which just released a couple of months ago.
If you're a fan of challenging, souls-like titles, both of these titles are truly excellent and we wholeheartedly recommend that you at least try them since they are on Game Pass. If you can't find the games on your Xbox or Game Pass for PC app, just wait a bit as it's possible that Xbox are introducing these region by region.
We gave Remnant 2 a score of 90 out of 100 in our review, which you can read below, praising the game's incredible dynamic world and boss fights as well as stunning visual presentation.
It's probably the most fun we had with a game this year, which is why we think Remnant 2 should've been a strong nominee for Game of the Year. Its predecessor is also a fantastic game that offered a unique concept of third-person shooting and souls-like design when it came out.
On Steam, Remnant: From the Ashes currently has "Very Positive" player reviews, same as the sequel, which has a couple of percentages higher score.
All in all, it's a great set of games, no doubt about it and if you're a Game Pass subscriber, you should definitely give these two a go. We also have to say that Xbox's tactic that includes shadow drops like these and the famous Hi-Fi Rush does seem to work, as the buzz on social media is certainly there.
We're always up for an exciting shadow drop so please keep them coming, Xbox.
