Fans of Lies of P have been given a significant update about the sequel they’ve been waiting on, as NEOWIZ has officially announced that development is underway.
The message was shared in the company’s Q1 2026 earnings report and is one of the largest updates we’ve gotten about the sequel since director Choi Ji-won initially shared that it was in development about two and a half years ago.
Although we don’t yet know gameplay, a title, or even a release window, NEOWIZ confirming that full-scale development has begun means we can likely expect things to start moving along behind-the-scenes at ROUND8 Studio.
In addition to discussing the development update, NEOWIZ also provided some more insight into ROUND8’s overall design philosophy when it comes to game narratives.
Narrative design was even said to be one of the studio’s “core competencies” as it went on to announce that both Seung-ho Jin and Kay Lee would be joining as directors despite both coming from scenario-writing positions previously.
While Lies of P 2 is currently being directed by Choi Ji-won, it’s unlikely that other narrative-driven developers at ROUND8 won’t lend a hand at some capacity as technical advisors or otherwise.Lies of P was one of the best Soulslikes to release in years thanks to its fantastic combat, visuals, and world-building.
The game has since sold over four million units according to NEOWIZ. While we wait for Summer Game Fest kicking off on June 5, it wouldn’t be crazy to see a teaser trailer of some sort for Lies of P 2 considering how they revealed Overture last year’s showcase.
It very well could be in the cards for NEOWIZ to show up. We know very little about the game at the moment, but development officially beginning is a huge step towards that inevitable reveal.
