Development hell reached a new meaning with Stalker 2, the next bit from the Exclusion Zone that the fans have been waiting decades for.
Namely, GSC Game World had to postpone the game multiple times in the past and just when things started looking good, Russia invaded Ukraine, which obviously threw a big spanner in the team's work.
Some of them stayed to defend the country while others carried on development in the rest of Europe. However, more recently, GSC's office in the Czech Republic caught on fire.
The Prague studio suffered major losses when it comes to materials but thankfully, no one was hurt.
Currently, the estimated damage is around $1.5 million Czech crowns which translates to around $75,000.
The news was initially reported by an anonymous source to the Czech outlet, Vortex, but the situation was officially confirmed on GSC's Discord server as well.
However, the devs remain steadfast and are doing their best to not let the fire get in the way of Stalker 2's development as they announced they lived through worse.
Given the current situation in Ukraine, it is not hard to figure out they are telling the truth.
