GSC Game World has released Stalker 2 patch 1.7.1, addressing bugs including artifacts spawning underground, disappearing power lines, and massive performance drops when opening the PDA. The update also introduces fail-safe mechanisms for mod incompatibility issues.

GSC Game World have deployed Stalker 2 patch 1.7.1, tackling several prominent bugs, including the frustrating issue where artefacts spawned beneath ground geometry, making them impossible to collect. The update also resolves disappearing power lines and severe frame rate drops tied to Epic shadow settings, a problem that was introduced in the recent update.

Key fixes and performance improvements

The most significant fix addresses artifacts spawning underground, a problem that could lock players out of valuable loot through no fault of their own. Power lines that previously vanished when approached now remain visible, whilst opening the PDA with Epic shadows no longer tanks performance catastrophically.

Mission-specific bugs received attention, including Ward NPCs teleporting during Wishful Thinking and soldiers failing to assist Skif during Assault On The Duga. Visual glitches like texture flickering on staircases and shadow issues on Skif's hands during cutscenes have been corrected.

Mod compatibility and quality-of-life changes

A new fail-safe mechanism helps players whose games won't launch due to mod incompatibility, potentially saving corrupted saves or broken installations. Several exploits were patched, including sprinting whilst overencumbered and using weapon attachments directly from trade windows.

DualSense controller dead zone settings received multiple fixes, whilst settings values now display correctly after auto-detect or reset. General crash fixes round out the update, though GSC Game World didn't specify which crashes were addressed.

Patch 1.7.1 is available now across all platforms. Check out the full patch notes below:
