GSC Game World has announced that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will receive a substantial free content update on Tuesday, December 16, adding a brand new storyline to the post-apocalyptic shooter. The Stories Untold update will be available to all owners of the game at no additional cost.
The update centers around strange occurrences near Malachite in the western portion of the map, where research groups have reported a mysterious radio signal interfering with PDA communications. Stalkers exposed to the signal suffer from headaches, nosebleeds, and hallucinations. Players will need to investigate the Red Forest region alongside Professor Medulin and radio enthusiast Banzai to uncover what's happening.
The new content includes eight quests that can take hours to complete across seven locations. Two entirely new areas have been added to the Zone: the Fairy Tale Pioneer Camp and the Old Mine in Red Forest. Players will also revisit familiar locations including Car Dump, Army Warehouses, City Boiler Room, Rail Depot, and Volkhov SAM, which are now re-inhabited by stalkers.
Stalker 2 free content update comes with:

A new hub will appear in the Burnt Forest region as one possible outcome of player choices, complete with a technician, trader, medic, guide, and stash facilities. The update also introduces the GP37V2, a modified rifle featuring a pre-installed suppressor and low-magnification scope with single and burst fire modes designed for tactical players.
GSC Game World emphasized that player choices will determine how the story unfolds and whether the new hub becomes accessible. The update reinforces the game's commitment to player agency, with decisions literally shaping and changing the Zone.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl launched in November 2024 to critical acclaim despite a troubled development cycle affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Stories Untold update represents GSC Game World's first major post-launch story content addition to the game.
