Quake 2 Remastered has appeared this morning on The Korea Media Rating Board, which could mean we're getting an official announcement very soon. The game has been rated "not available for youth ", due to excessive expression of violence, blood and mutilation and more.
The rating description mentions only the PC platform, which is a bit odd, given that the remaster of the first Quake was released on all platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
It's possible that the game first arrives on PC and later on consoles but guess we'll just have to wait and see. The official reveal is probably scheduled for QuakeCon 2023, which runs from August 10 to August 13.
Quake 2 Remastered will certainly be welcomed by all fans of this iconic shooter. One thing that we would really love to see is this remastered version mixed with the ray-tracing one.
You probably recall that Quake 2 RTX was released a while ago with a bunch of stunning ray-traced techniques that made the game look gorgeous, even though we had all those old textures and models. That's where the remastered version could help with sharper textures, more details on the maps and other improved graphical effects.
If you're wondering why we're getting these Quake remasters, well, some vague rumours about the brand-new Quake game have been floating around the internet for a while. Apparently, Doom developers id Software could be working on a Quake reboot, but take that as a rumour and nothing more, until we get an official announcement.
DON'T MISS:
