The Gateway to the Illuminate Void is now open in Helldivers 2, sending players to mutated planets to uncover its secrets and liberate the Source Planet.

Helldivers 2 players have traveled into the unknown. Arrowhead Studios has finally opened the Gateway to the Illuminate Void. Now Helldivers will explore the bizarre frontier, uncover corruption plaguing planets within it, and fight back against the Illuminate threat.

The Void campaign picks up after the events of Census Thunder, where players harvested Voteless tissue samples. Super Earth’s Ministry of Science was then able to develop the Gateway technology into the Illuminate Void.

With operations now in effect, Helldivers are jumping into the unknown. The Gateway allows players to access strange new planets in the Illuminate Void. The front line has officially left the battlefield of the Galactic War behind.

Super Earth has successfully opened a wormhole and stabilized it in Rirga Bay. This allows players to travel directly to the Void area.

Planets within the Void don’t have stars, and various worlds that have been pulled into the Void have had their landscapes altered by its influence. There are many new mysteries for Helldivers to uncover while exploring the mutated landscapes.

Battle through Illuminate ruins, uncover what happened to these planets, and work to destroy any ancient Illuminate technology you find along the way.

Find and Liberate the Source Planet

The Source Planet was once known as Seasse. However, Helldivers’ primary mission objective in the new campaign will be to liberate this world.

Players will still need to battle through corrosive Void plants and dangerous Illuminate forces like the Wretch and Crusher. While doing so, squad will learn more about what caused the Void corruption.

Void Operations

Void missions sport some big changes compared to the usual operations players have grown accustomed to. While most operations sport one primary objective, Void planets have randomized ones.

This means that players will need to be able to adjust their strategies on the fly, depending on what the planet’s objectives are. Some planets will even allow squad to document their findings using a new tactical video camera.

Other objectives can include things like destroying Illuminate structures or scouting out the area.

Unlock New Extraction Zones

Squad will also want to make their way to the secondary extraction zones found on Void planets. These will become available as players destroy Illuminate Warpgates.

Additional extraction zones will be especially helpful when players need to make a hasty retreat back to their Destroyer. Helldivers can also expect some backup from SEAF support squads during their journey into the Void.
