Quake 2 Remastered first surfaced on the Korean Ratings board a couple of weeks ago, which was enough proof that the game is set to be announced very soon. Quake 2 Remastered is yet to be announced but all things point at a special reveal at the biggest event of the year for Quake fans - QuakeCon.
QuakeCon 2023 will take place from August 10 to August 13, 2023, focusing on all things Quake. This is certainly a perfect opportunity for big announcements so expect to hear more about Quake 2 Remastered in just a few days.
Until then, we have a new Quake 2 Remastered leak, which has revealed that the game will launch on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
The release platforms should not come as a surprise to anyone since Quake Remastered also launched on PC and these consoles, too. One may argue that Microsoft would lock the release to Xbox exclusivity but this is not a major title that will bring in millions of revenues so there's no much point in keeping it away from PlayStation.
Xbox will have a special benefit for Quake Remastered 2 though, as the game will launch straight into Xbox Game Pass on day one according to the report.
So all in all, Quake fans should be happy that Bethesda and id Software are not forgetting about this classic shooter franchise. This could also be a hint that something much bigger is on the way, perhaps a brand-new Quake game.
That's what rumours have been suggesting for a while - apparently, id are helming the project - which is exciting to hear but until we get more solid info, take this as just a rumour and nothing more.
