Season 4 of Overwatch 2 is adding quite a lot to the game. Busan and the MEKA Squad are getting some love this season, including the introduction of new Tank hero D. Mon. Blizzard is also revamping the Battle Pass system, introducing several returning maps with new updates, along with quality-of-life changes meant to make supporting your team easier to identify.
There are a few events you can take part in throughout the season including the Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania event that lasts three weeks, and players will be able to unlock older Battle Pass rewards with the introduction of Unvaulted Passes.
Competitive players will get new incentives to stay with their team after winning a match, and fans can cheer for their region with another World Cup Cheer Rally event.
D. Mon Joins Overwatch 2 Roster
Fans of the MEKA Squad will be excited to know that D. Mon (also known as Yuna Lee) is finally coming to Overwatch 2 as a playable hero this season. She’s been around for a while, appearing in previous story missions with the MEKA Squad.
D. Mon is joining the Tank lineup along with her mech buddy Beast. Her abilities include:
- Close-range sword attacks with Plasma Saber
- Ability to protect allies with Power Barrier
- Leap around quickly with Propulsors
- Shoot enemies at range with Fusion Repeater
- Ultimate ability Limit Break to help your team close the gap
With D. Mon’s arrival, players can expect the Junkers to swarm into Busan and attack the city, while Talon makes their move on the MEKA base.
MEKA Mania Event
The Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania event will run throughout Season 4 from August 11 until August 31. Players will pick which pilot pass they want to complete for rewards, all while cheering on their favorite MEKA Squad member.
Each pass completed is considered a vote towards that pilots global popularity. Players can complete multiple passes if they’d like and support all five pilots.
Completing all available passes will unlock a special Prestige track with more rewards.
Battle Pass Overhaul
Another huge addition this season is the revamp to the Battle Pass system. Players will now be able to choose which Legendary skin they want to progress towards after completing the starting segment of the Battle Pass.
Premium Battle Pass players will also earn a one-time Tier Hack per pass. Hack allows players to swap an eligible Legendary reward with another cosmetic from the season’s Swap Pool.
The starting swap pool includes:
- Raijin Ashe
- Mob Boss Junker Queen
- Cardboard Reinhardt
- Sakura Lifeweaver
- Crustacean Wrecking Ball
Players will also be able to access old Battle Passes during Season 4 with the introduction of Unvaulted Passes. These passes will let players continue progressing on past Battle Passes and earn rewards alongside the current season’s Battle Pass.
Maps Getting Some Love
Busan is getting an update tied into the season’s storyline. Players can expect to see visual damage around streets and buildings, graffiti, burning wreckage, and parts of the MEKA being repaired. You can also explore D. Mon’s room inside the MEKA, complete with personal belongings, posters, and her weapons collection.
Paraíso is getting a festive update, players will find new decorations around the map. Changes will also be made to Lúcio’s hometown hangout spot Clube Sinestesia. Players will find new routes, shortcuts, and high-ground paths around Point A and Point B.
Eichenwalde is getting quality-of-life changes to movement around the map. Similar to Paraíso, new paths have been implemented around the first chokepoint. Attackers will find a piano shop that can be broken into for high ground.
Team Drives
Players who love the competitive aspect of Overwatch 2 will have the opportunity to join Team Drives between September 4–6.
This event encourages players to stay with the team they won with. Whether you queue solo or with friends, if players are matched with someone from your previous game, you’ll stay grouped for your next game.
Wins will help you level up through Gladiator ranks faster. Hero Bans and Map Voting will stay in the competitive queue.
World Cup Cheer Rally
The World Cup Cheer Rally will be happening from September 1–14. Players can pick a region to support out of AMER, EMEA or ASIA.
You can earn Cheer by completing in-game challenges or by watching qualifying Overwatch World Cup broadcasts. Earned Cheer can go towards regional rewards such as Battle Pass XP, Loot Boxes, Esports Loot Boxes, skins, and titles.
Regional skins include Venture and Illari for AMER, Freja and Hazard for EMEA, and Wuyang and Juno for ASIA.
Combat Feedback Features
Players will begin to see some new additions that help identify what’s going on around them during an Overwatch 2 match. Blizzard is adding a new Team Status Indicator that will show above the Kill Feed. The indicator will show how many players are alive on each team.
Tanks will now have a new Protect stat that shows when their damage mitigation stops damage that could have been lethal to an ally. Other new changes include more obvious healing effects, improved health-bar feedback, new multi-kill icons, and more info displayed on the Activity Feed to show damage contribution towards eliminations.
Mythic Cosmetics
Season 4 is introducing two Mythic cosmetics to the game.
Koi of Duality Genji sports four levels of new customizations that highlight balance and the concept of duality. Players can customize Genji’s hairstyle and color palette. Highest level unlocks will cause glowing koi to surround Genji.
Eternal Crystal Sojourn is a new Mythic weapon skin that evolves as Sojourn gets eliminations. The skin features a crystalline design that charges up as she stays in combat. Higher levels will unlock special reload animations and a unique crystalline kill effect.
Season 4 Battle Pass Rewards
The Battle Pass will be sporting some cyber punk inspired cosmetics this season. There are five Legendary skins and three Epic skins available as Battle Pass rewards.

- Cyber Mechanic D.Va
- Cyber Raptor Pharah
- The Premium Battle Pass will include:
- Divine Demon D. Mon and Metalcore Junker Queen
- 20 Battle Pass Tier Skips
- 2,000 Overwatch Coins
Players will be able to earn up to 80 Mythic Prisms. Mythic Prisms can be spent on unlocking Mythic cosmetics or customizations.
