Overwatch 2 Season 17 begins June 24, bringing 8-bit mode, new Stadium maps, a D.Va Mythic skin, and the ability to save custom builds. Here’s what’s coming.

Blizzard is ready to launch Overwatch 2 Season 17, titled "Powered Up!", on June 24, 2025, and while the update may not be packed with new heroes or game modes, it’s introducing some long-requested features and fun extras that should keep players engaged through the summer.

One of the main highlights is the introduction of a limited-time 8-bit mode, tapping into retro arcade vibes with pixel-themed cosmetics and action. A new Mythic skin for D.Va headlines the season’s premium rewards, while Reaper gets a Mythic Weapon Skin.

A slew of Overwatch Academy and 8-bit-themed skins will be available through the battle pass and shop.

The Stadium mode is expanding too, with Zenyatta, Junkrat, and Sigma now playable in this sports-inspired experience. Two new maps — Esperança and Samoa — are also joining the Stadium map pool. Perhaps the most impactful feature for longtime players is the Stadium Forge loadout saving system.

You’ll no longer need to manually configure perks for every match — instead, you can save and share your favorite builds for quicker load-in.

Additionally, players can look forward to the new Flashpoint map "Aatlis", revamped versions of Survasa and New Junk City, and the introduction of map voting in both Quick Play and Competitive.

Overwatch 2 is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Season 17 may not reinvent the wheel, but with solid quality-of-life upgrades and nostalgic content, it’s poised to be a crowd-pleaser for casuals and veterans alike.
