The next Overwatch 2 collab is sure to send nostalgia flooding back. Developer Blizzard is set to partner with Hasbro’s long-standing NERF brand in the first collaboration for the hero shooter since its G.I. Joe collab. The content is live in-game from August 5, 2025, and is the next major addition to Overwatch 2’s ambitious live service roadmap.
The first official Overwatch 2 x NERF collab trailer will be revealed at 9 AM PST on August 4. While specifics are yet to be confirmed by Blizzard, their teaser image hints strongly at weapon skins, rather than a collection of hero cosmetics. Expect a wide variety of themed visual effects, unique animations, and colorful explosions.
The NERF content drops alongside Season 17, which is now live and has introduced Zenyatta, Sigma, and Junkrat to the current meta, and post-Stadium launch, which kicked off Season 16 with a bang for the competitive shooter. It also precedes a major Xbox showcase at Gamescom and a limited-time trial of the new hero Wuyang coming later in Season 17.
Overwatch 2 x NERF Collab Overview
- Release: August 5, 2025
- Trailer Reveal: August 4 at 9 AM PST
- Content: Themed weapon skins and playful VFX related to Hasbro’s NERF brand
- Heroes: Reaper, Reinhardt, Soldier 76, Mercy, Ana, Ashe, and Widowmaker are strong candidates for skins due to their past Mythic skins.
The Overwatch team hasn’t yet confirmed if the collab will include an in-game event, or limited-time challenges, but going by previous collaborations, players should expect a collection of exclusive cosmetics, themed bundles, and possibly NERF-themed gameplay modifiers.
Overwatch 2 is free to play on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. With the collab dropping August 5, and additional Season 17 content in the works, including a first look at new hero Wuyang, now is as good a time as any to start or jump back into the action.
