Overwatch fans have a new hero to get excited about as Blizzard Entertainment has revealed Shion, the next hero set to join the popular shooter. Arriving as part of Season 3 on June 16, 2026, Shion will be playable in Overwatch as the game’s 52nd hero.
The heroic gunslinger was announced during a cinematic reveal trailer called End of the Line. The trailer depicts Shion taking on Sojourn while hinting at her backstory and role in Overwatch’s larger narrative.
Although it doesn’t contain a lot of information on her gameplay abilities, players can expect Shion to be a Damage-class hero. In End of the Line, Shion is shown off as a member of the Hashimoto clan, a crime family that has been playing a major role in Overwatch’s storyline as of late. This positions her as an enemy of the Shimada clan, tying her to several heroes including Genji and Hanzo.
Blizzard hasn’t detailed her abilities yet, so players will have to wait a bit longer to see exactly how she plays. What we do know is that she rides around on a motorcycle.
Shion is the latest in a slew of new heroes Blizzard has been adding to Overwatch since its relaunch earlier this year. She is the seventh new hero added to the game in 2026, coming shortly after the introduction of Sierra during Season 2.
Blizzard had previously stated they would be releasing one new hero each season as part of the game’s ongoing resurgence and 10-year anniversary.
Alongside Shion, Season 3 will introduce a new map inspired by Japan. This will be the first new map added to regular game modes like Overwatch’s Payload since its relaunch. The map will likely have ties to Shion’s narrative and the conflict with the Hashimoto crime family.
