Nvidia has released a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem showcasing path tracing and DLSS 4 support, with comparison footage highlighting significantly improved reflections and lighting effects ahead of the survival horror game's February 27 launch.

Nvidia has unveiled a new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem demonstrating the survival horror game's path tracing implementation and DLSS 4 support, with side-by-side comparisons showcasing dramatic visual improvements. Path tracing and DLSS 4 will be available only on the PC platform.

The trailer highlights how path tracing transforms Resident Evil Requiem's lighting and reflections. Comparison shots reveal quite the difference, particularly in reflective surfaces where the ray tracing off side displays blurry, approximate reflections whilst the RTX on implementation renders crisp, realistic mirror-like reflections on car bodies and windows.

Capcom emphasised the importance of light and shadow expression in survival horror, whether flickering hallway lights, neon-lit streets, or lighter flames illuminating dark corridors. Path tracing delivers more natural lighting across these scenarios, enhancing immersion during those tense and spooky moments.

DLSS 4 accompanies the path tracing implementation, using Nvidia's latest upscaling and frame generation technology to maintain performance whilst rendering all these expensive ray-traced effects.

Capcom say the path tracing effects represent the most advanced lighting implementation in the Resident Evil series to date, building on ray tracing features introduced in previous entries like Resident Evil Village.
