Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has paid a visit to Kojima Productions in Japan, only days after Xbox confirmed it would be publishing PHYSINT following PlayStation Studios' decision to cancel the project. While there, she signed the studio's well-known wall, a tradition among visitors and collaborators, leaving the message: "To invention and adventure together with Xbox"
Asha also posted on a photo on her socials, with a message "Working day with Hideo Kojima and team on OD, PHYSINT and the future."
Earlier this morning, Sharma posted a photo of the Tokyo skyline, and it didn't take long for fans to connect the dots, replying to guess she was there to visit Kojima Productions. That guess turned out to be correct.
The timing lines up closely with the PHYSINT news itself. Sony pulled its funding and publishing support for the project back in June, and Kojima spent the following months searching for a new partner before landing on Xbox. A visit this soon after that announcement could serve several purposes: checking in on the project directly (which Asha confirmed in her tweet), working through partnership details in person, offering further support to the studio, or simply reinforcing the announcement publicly and giving the deal a bit more visibility and goodwill online. It's likely a mix of all of the above rather than any single reason.
PHYSINT is in development for Xbox, published in partnership with Kojima Productions. No release date has been confirmed but we are not expecting this one anytime soon. Our guess is that we'll probably see it sometime in 2029-2030 on the next-gen Xbox device codenamed Project Helix.
