Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Nioh 3's Hell Rising DLC launches on August 19, adding new weapons, New Game++, Picture Scrolls, and a new story.

Developer Koei Tecmo has revealed that Hell Rising, the first premium DLC expansion for Nioh 3, will release on August 19, 2026. The DLC adds a brand new chapter to the story, alongside new weapons, endgame content, and New Game++.

Hell Rising takes place during the Keian Era in the year 1651. After returning to Edo due to the mysterious return of the Crucible, Takechiyo has become Shogun, but is said to have already died in the future. Players will embark on another journey alongside Yagyu Jubei and Rodrigo to discover what’s going on.

Players will fight through Yokai, rebels, foreign alchemists, and new bosses in this campaign. Hell Rising also introduces two new weapon types to Nioh 3. Players can now equip the Hoko and Shield combo.

While shielding against enemy attacks, players can either stab foes with the short spear after parrying or use their shield as a ranged weapon.

Ninja variants are available as well. Players can also take on The Enlightened One’s Journey, Nioh 3′s take on New Game++. The mode features a higher level cap, better loot pools, and more.

Finally, Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls is a new endgame mode players can take on alone or with others online. These are customizable battles that reward players with Picture Scroll gear that have unique effects upon victory.

Hell Rising will feature all new enemies, equipment, Soul Cores, and bosses as well. In addition to the announcement, Koei Tecmo has revealed that Bloody Insurrection, the game’s second paid expansion, will release in February of 2027.
