Sucker Punch Productions has reportedly laid off 24 employees as it prepares for its next project, despite the commercial success of Ghost of Yotei.

It seems that Sucker Punch who developed Ghost of Yotei and Ghost of Tsushima have been letting people go. They are reevaluating what they need for their upcoming title. We can expect more information in the future from them.

As stated by various websites, 24 people have been let go from Sucker Punch. This comes from someone who used to work there and showed them an email that was sent out to employees.

Reasons for Letting Go Employees

From the email Sucker Punch said they were evaluating market trends and what they will need for their next game. They also mentioned what they are doing to help those that are being let go. They will be able to give us more information on what the future holds next week.

No one knows what Sucker Punch next game will be from this email. Or what jobs are being cut. We will have to wait to see if Sony says anything about the layoffs.

Ghost of Yotei Made Money But People Were Still Laid Off

Ghost of Yotei did very well when it came out. It sold 3.3 million copies within a month of releasing. Sony went on to say that it outsold Ghost of Tsushima in its lifespan and helped them greatly. As of recently we found that Ghost of Yotei has sold around 5.4 million copies, which again is just an estimate from the industry.

Once again we see game developers letting people go. Who knows if this will continue or if this will only happen between games. No one knows if Sucker Punch will cancel their next game or not.

Only time will tell what happens next with Sucker Punch. Hopefully they can let us know what they have planned for the future next week.
