Nioh 3: Baba Nobuharu Boss Fight Tips and Strategy

Baba Nobuharu is a huge demon you'll face at the end of the Futamata Castle area. This boss fight is a real test, and if you're struggling, here are some tips and tricks on how to beat this formidable boss.

Nioh 3 is a game that features really hard bosses, and it seems girls and boys from Team Ninja did a real effort to make them as tough as possible.

Even the first couple of bosses will give you real trouble, especially if you're not familiar, first, with the Souls-like games in general, and second, with the Nioh games, because they are a special kind of breed in this subgenre.

One boss, however, that will test your skill like none before him, is the Baba Nobuharu boss, which will be part of the main story mission 'Mirage Fortress', and to continue through the story, you'll have to beat him.

If this formidable boss is giving you trouble, here are a couple of tips and some pieces of advice on how to beat him, as well as the video guide, so without further ado, let's begin.

Tips and Strategies on Beating Baba Nobuharu

  • Parry is the name of the game

Even though you can dodge the boss's attacks, because they're quite telegraphed, dodging burns Ki, and in this fight, you'll want to keep the Ki level as high as possible.

Once you learn the boss's attack patterns, parrying will become very easy. Of course, parry is the skill that needs to be unlocked within the Samurai skill tree, but since it is one of the first skills available, it is highly likely that you'll have it already unlocked.

  • Try playing as Samurai as much as possible

Because of the parry, Samurai is a better option, and once the game forces you to switch to Ninja (performing the Burst Break parry), immediately switch back to Samurai because the Samurai's attacks are stronger, and if you manage to keep your Ki level high, you'll hurt the boss more efficiently.

  • Keep an eye on the boss's decoy attacks

The decoy attacks can easily fool you into parrying or dodging earlier, and as a result, you'll get hit, and since the boss's attacks are devastating, a couple of hits, and you're done for.

To avoid those, notice that decoys are transparent and a bit paler than the real ones. The decoy attacks cannot hurt you and can actually be very useful, provided you know how to use them. The real attacks follow the decoys immediately, and you'll know which attack to defend against.

  • Be aware of a grab attack

The grab attack is also quite telegraphed, and you'll recognise it by the greyish particles around the boss's hand. Once you see this, dodge to the side because you cannot parry those attacks.

You should also be aware of the grab decoy, but as is the case with other decoy attacks, it will give you enough time to respond in kind and to dodge sideways to avoid being grabbed and losing half of your health bar.

Again, try to follow those tips, but if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million or so. Watch our video and see how we beat Baba Nobuharu.
