Remedy Entertainment has remained silent about their upcoming Max Payne remakes, but a recent financial report from the studio revealed that development is still happening. According to the report, fans likely won’t hear too many more details about the remakes anytime soon, but the projects are moving forward.
Max Payne debuted back in 2001 on both consoles and PC, and was followed up by a sequel in 2003. The original games are some of Remedy’s most well known titles, and fans have wanted to see them return for years.
Remedy is handling the development of both Max Payne 1 and 2 remake projects, with assistance from Rockstar Games. Rockstar published the original titles, and will return to publish the remakes.
Rockstar Games Is Publishing The Games
As mentioned by Remedy in their latest half-year financial report, several investors asked questions about the Max Payne remakes.
The studio confirmed that the games are still in development, but said that Rockstar Games is and will be publishing the projects. This means that until Rockstar allows them to, Remedy will not say much more about the remakes.
This includes any info about their development progress, potential releases dates, or even announcements.
Remedy initially announced the remake projects in 2022, with both games being rebuilt from the ground up in their Northlight engine. Rockstar Games is providing funding for the projects, and will publish them when complete.
Don’t Expect A Release Date Anytime Soon
At this time, there is no official release date for the Max Payne remakes. It also doesn’t sound like Remedy will be divulging any details about when new information will be coming soon.
The remakes are exciting projects for Remedy as their modern titles like Alan Wake 2 and Control have shown they can expand upon the series’ dark and gritty atmosphere, while presenting everything on a larger scale.
