The highest-rated video game franchises have been announced in a new study, and Baldur's Gate is top-rated. According to new research by Clash.gg, when considering Metacritic ratings for 344 franchises, Baldur's Gate is the highest-rated, with an average score of 9.15 out of 10.
An action role-playing set within the Dungeons and Dragons universe, players can manage inventories and huge environments and even take on quests.
Closely behind is BioShock, a game franchise averaging 8.98. The series combines first-person shooting with the elements of a role-playing game, enabling players to use weapons and superhuman abilities in dealing with dynamic environments.
Coming in third is Metal Gear at an average score of 8.87. This stealth-based franchise has been popular for throwing players into the shoes of elite special forces operatives who outsmart the bad guys by wit and strategy rather than brute force.
God of War takes fourth place at an average of 8.86. This action-adventure series, rooted in mythology, has taken Kratos through his many battles with gods and monsters alike using hack-and-slash combat mechanics and parts incorporating puzzle-solving elements.
Coming in at number five, Elder Scrolls scores 8.84. A series that whisks gamers away to the fantasy realm of Tamriel, where they come across magical beasts and fight against the persuasion of doomsday.

On the low end, Call of Duty is the lowest-rated franchise rated at 7.06, followed by Diablo and Mafia.
It also measured the time for game completion. Final Fantasy was first, with 74.94 hours per game, then The Sims at 61.38 hours per game, and Baldur's Gate at 60.00 hours per game.
