Riot Games has yet to confirm any specific release dates for the upcoming item update, but they have stated that it will come out after MSI 2023. These patches are scheduled for Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 and Thursday, June 1st, 2023.

Every preseason, Riot Games implements substantial modifications to the game, including system, mechanic, and jungle changes. However, the one aspect that undergoes constant alteration is the items available for purchase using gold. These items can provide players with stat enhancements or new active and passive abilities.

The most significant item change occurred during preseason 11 with the introduction of Mythic items. These items were designed to be exclusive and powerful, meant to be purchased first.

However, their introduction proved to be a balancing nightmare for Riot Games, as they initially intended specific classes to use certain League of Legends Mythic items.

Item Changes

The list of items undergoing changes includes Immortal Shieldbow and Kraken Slayer, both of which will be shifted from Mythic to Legendary status.

Meanwhile, Navori Quickblades, Infinity Edge, and Guinsoo's Rageblade will be moved from Legendary to Mythic. These alterations will resemble the preseason 11 version.

It's worth noting that nearly all of the items will undergo some form of modification, ranging from minor stat adjustments to significant overhauls. The items transitioning from Mythic to Legendary will experience considerable nerfs, while those promoted from Legendary to Mythic will receive substantial buffs, including a new passive.

Riot Games has confirmed that if the upcoming item update fails to meet expectations, they are open to the possibility of removing the category altogether and reverting it to the state it was in during season 10.
