IO Interactive, the renowned game development team celebrated for the Hitman series, is presently at work on their James Bond game, known as Project 007. In a recent interview with Edge Magazine, IO Interactive's CEO, Hakan Abran, shed light on the studio's aspirations for this exciting project.
The upcoming James Bond game is expected to offer players a different experience compared to the freeform escapades of the Hitman series. It's poised to be a more structured and scripted adventure, ensuring that fans of the iconic secret agent will find themselves immersed in a captivating story.
Project 007 will embrace the third-person action genre, placing players in the shoes of a unique James Bond character that's distinct from any of the movie portrayals. This fresh take on the legendary spy will bring a unique and original perspective, allowing players to explore the world of James Bond in a novel way.
While Project 007 will introduce a fresh James Bond persona, Hakan Abran claims that it will be "closer to Daniel Craig than Roger Moore." This suggests a more modern and intense interpretation of the character, aligning with the tone of recent James Bond films.
However, it seems we will have to wait a bit to play as one of the most iconic secret agents, as Project 007 is not anticipated to hit the gaming scene until 2025 at the earliest. We can only hope that this extended time frame will allow IO Interactive to craft one more masterpiece, as they definitely did with the newest Hitman series.
