One of the main activities for endgame PvE in New World are the mutated expeditions. They rotate weekly and only some of them have mutations until the next rotation comes along.
To get the artefact associated with the expedition, you need to play it in the mutated version.
This means some artefacts are unobtainable for weeks on end, which is why Amazon Game Studios' latest mess stung the players so hard.
When it was finally the turn for Barnacles and Blackpowder to have mutations, the dungeon held the throne for a grand total of one day, at which point the update 3.0.2 kicked off and switched the mutator modifiers to Starstone Barrows and Genesis.
Backlash ensued as most players didn't manage to get the Void Darkplate, which is the perfect artefact for the tanks who have been waiting for it since the expansion launched.
AGS soon announced that Ennead and Barnacles mutators have been re-enabled but it is only a matter of time until the wider public figures out Void Darkplate is bugged and only provides a 20 per cent armour bonus for itself, not the entire set.
Meanwhile, an exploit popped up where players were able to invite more than five people into their expedition and now the devs are warning against doing so as this will put their accounts at the risk of being banned.
