In what might be 2025's strangest gaming crossover, IO Interactive has tapped Eminem - the actual, genuine rap icon - for Hitman World of Assassination's next Elusive Target mission. Starting December 1st, players can assassinate Slim Shady, Eminem's notorious alter ego, in a free limited-time mission.
The premise is delightfully absurd: Eminem spent his latest album "The Death of Slim Shady" attempting to bury his twisted alternate personality for good. Apparently that didn't take, so now he's hired legendary assassin Agent 47 to finish the job properly. Because when your fictional alter ego won't stay dead, obviously you call in a fictional videogame hitman. Makes perfect sense.
The mission transforms Hokkaido's medical facility into Popsomp Hills Asylum, a dreamlike environment reflecting Slim Shady's "unhinged reality" - IO Interactive's words, not mine. Agent 47 must track the target across multiple areas including a broadcasting studio, maintaining stealth whilst navigating what sounds like a fever-dream version of Eminem's discography made architecturally tangible.
Direct partnership with Eminem
IO Interactive went properly deep on Eminem lore for this collaboration. The mission features abundant references spanning the rapper's entire career, including a poisoned plate of Mom's Spaghetti (naturally), a performance of "Houdini," and presumably countless other Easter eggs fans will excavate obsessively once the mission drops.
Eminem himself worked directly with IO Interactive and creative director/producer Paul Rosenberg crafting the level, which explains why it feels genuinely weird rather than corporately sanitised. "I've been trying to put Slim to rest, but he keeps coming back," Eminem shared. "So this time, I'm calling in a professional to get the job done once and for all."

The Eminem vs. Slim Shady mission runs from December 1st through December 31st, available entirely free across every platform Hitman supports - PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, ROG Xbox Ally X, ROG Xbox Ally, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iPhone, iPad, and playable in VR on PS VR2 and PC VR.
Season Content and New Platform Launches
Beyond the headline-grabbing Eminem collaboration, IO Interactive's launching a full "Season of Eminem VS Slim Shady" roadmap featuring two new challenges, Featured Contracts batches, and three returning Elusive Targets including Jean-Claude Van Damme's "The Splitter." Holiday-themed events Holiday Hoarders and Hokkaido Snow Festival also return.
Hitman World of Assassination simultaneously launches on ROG XBOX Ally X and ROG XBOX Ally handheld devices December 1st, with Xbox Play Anywhere support enabling seamless progress sharing between Xbox consoles and PC. The game's already available practically everywhere else, so this fills one of the few remaining platform gaps.
