Steam have released their monthly report of Sofware and Hardware Survey and there are some interesting results across all graphs but most notably the graphics card usage.
The October 2023 report reveals that mid-range GPUs are the most used ones among players on Steam. Nvidia RTX 3060 is at the top of the table with 9.92 per cent usage while Nvidia RTX 2060 is in second at 6.07 per cent.
Since 1080p is the most popular resolution on Steam, it's not surprising that players are opting for these mid-range GPUs which are more than enough for full HD.
Steam graphics card usage in October 2023
Below, you'll find a table with around twenty most popular graphics cards among Steam users. The data is directly from Steam's monthly survey.
Interestingly, the list of top GPUs includes only two graphic cards from Nvidia's latest RTX 4000 series - 4060 and 4070 - both of which are medium-range GPUs.
It will obviously take a while before Steam users start adopting newer graphics cards but even then, we don't expect to see high-end cards at the top of the table as most Steam users play at 1080p and 1440p resolutions.
As for the CPUs, the majority of Steam users (over 73 per cent) opt for Intel chips while 26 per cent players use AMD processors. This may come as a surprise as AMD have been very competitive with their Ryzen CPUs lately. The split was smaller last month, though but Intel CPUs were still ahead.
